About The Role

We are looking for a Deputy Care Manager to support the delivery of a high-quality, person-centred care service within our Adult Services team at Meadow View, Tickhill, Doncaster. 
 
You will be responsible for managing and improving service delivery to ensure that residents recieve a complete person-centred care service and will support the Care Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations. This includes developing staff, monitoring performance and ensuring compliance with care standards and health & safety requirements.
 
Working closely with colleagues, families and multi-disciplinary teams, you will help ensure high quality of care for the people we support. This is a leadership role where you will act as an excellent role model, monitoring and influencing performance, while being prepared to provide hands-on support when required. 
 
Rota: Lates and early shifts, including one weekend in five

About You

Knowledge
Essential 
  • Knowledge of adult learning disabilities and/or special needs including recent developments
  • Detailed working knowledge of relevant Care Standards
  • Working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and the relevance of a person-centred approach in adult care service provisions
  • Knowledge of care assessment and planning processes
  • Knowledge of effective management practice 
  • Knowledge of recognised positive approaches to working with challenging behaviours associated with learning difficulties 
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures to include management responibilities for ensuring equal opportuities for staff and people who use our services 
  • Knowledge of evaluating all care practices and the importance of doing so 

Skills & Abilities 
Essential 
  • Ability to attend work punctually and reliably, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to critically assess, plan for and deliver a quality care service to people who use our services
  • Ability to effectively audit all activities for people who use our services, for appropriateness and risk assessment
  • Ability to understand and maintain a working knowledge of company policies, procedures and relevant care standards; ensuring that care practice within the team for whom you are responsible meets these requirements
  • Ability to manage and influence the performance of a staff team through the effective direct management of junior managers
  • Ability to communicate clearly to others and demonstrate leadership skills
  • Ability to manage and develop a staff team through effective training, supervision and appraisal processes
  • Ability to pro-actively address staff attendance concerns through timely implementation of procedural reviews
  • Ability to effectively delegate tasks to others and ensure delivery of required outcomes within agreed timescales
  • Ability to use appropriate physical interventions and undertake physical exercise with people who use our services
  • Ability to champion positive relationships with people with a learning disability
  • Ability to contribute to the training of other staff
  • Ability to chair meetings and communicate information in a clear and professional manner using the required level of confidentiality
  • Ability to understand and produce written material of a professional nature with the required detail within the required timescales
  • Ability to manage delegated resources efficiently and produce an internal audit trail
  • Ability to address issues affecting staff morale and retention in a timely fashion and bring to the attention of senior managers, ensuring that exit interviews are carried out
 
Desirable 
  • Ability to take part in the recruitment and selection of support staff in accordance with Hesley Group policy
 
Experience 
Essential 
  • Significant experience of supervisory management in a care setting and influencing good practice at a standard assessed as competent in all aspects of the job
  • Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities
  • Experience of effective performance review of others
 Desirable 
  • Experience of contributing to formal assessment processes, care planning and person centred case reviews
  • Experience of contributing to effective service development
