At Low Laithes, we’re on the lookout for enthusiastic Apprentice Support Workers to join our friendly team and support adults with autism and learning disabilities. Alongside gaining hands-on experience, you'll also study for your Level 2 NVQ in Health & Social Care — giving you a solid foundation for a rewarding career in care.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Apprentice Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in helping people live more independent, dignified and fulfilling lives. No two days are the same! You could be:
• Supporting someone to grow their own garden
• Helping to prepare healthy meals
• Encouraging new skills and building confidence
• Bringing fresh ideas to help people achieve their goals
Support isn’t just provided at home — you also might spend time out in the community, doing activities that the people you support love, such as walks, cinema trips or seaside visits.

Training & Development
Your apprenticeship includes regular college-based learning along with practical, on-the-job training.
• 20% of your working hours spent studying
• Initial 2.5 weeks full-time training (Mon–Fri, 9:30–4:30)
• Ongoing training on site
• Learning at Barnsley College
Shift Patterns:
Rolling rota: 4 days on, 2 days off including 2 late shifts and 2 early shifts
Early shifts: 7:30am–2:45pm/1:45pm
Late shifts: 1:15pm–9:45pm
Plus one full weekend off every 6 weeks.
