About The Role

We are excited to announce that due to increased student numbers and the diversification of our curriculum we are widening our team.

Mercury College are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Tutor Assistant to support our young people aged 18-25 to develop the skills they need to maximise their potential.

A practical approach with a can do attitude will ensure an effective and fun learning experience for students whilst developing skills in a wide range of areas, our curriculum is focused on the preparing for adulthood outcomes of employability, independence, community engagement and health and wellbeing and you will be expected to work across all areas.

Your ability to be responsive to student needs in the learning environment is crucial. Working alongside our dynamic and innovative tutors you will have the opportunity to contribute to the curriculum and may lead on subjects that you have a specific skill or interest in. Our purpose is to create an effective student centred study programme that develops skills and enables our students to achieve success.

*Please note this is a term time only role. Any annual leave must be taken during the 12 week college holiday periods.

 
 

About You

You will need to have a good standard of written English in order to write reports and contribute to assessment processes, your communication skills and positive interaction with external stakeholders will be vital in ensuring students have successful community experiences.

You will have relevant qualifications and experience of supporting groups of SEND students with complex needs in a college setting. You will have an understanding of how to work effectively in supporting students to make progress with their personal aspirations and targets as well as meeting EHCP outcomes.

We are a small college, so the ability to drive mini buses or the willingness to learn is advantageous.

You will work directly with other colleagues from care and clinical services as well as liaising with parents, other stakeholders, and community partners. The ability to work collaboratively is an essential part of your role as a Tutor Assistant.
